Everything, Everywhere, All At Once

Everything

The breadth of Knowledge, Depth Of Knowledge, Breadth, and Depth of Knowledge. Jack of all trades and master of None, Master of most trades and master of None, Master of Few and Jack of Many, and Just jack of Many Many Many.

Uni-tasking, Multi-Tasking, Parallel Multi-Tasking. Decluttering. Minimalism. Do 100 things and complete 80 things, and called out for not completing 20 things. Do only one thing and get applause. Try to do nothing and you can’t.

Go, NodeJs, DotNet Core, Java, Python. Go is typed, I don’t want to create structs for all 100 different APIs I am consuming. I like NodeJs, but I hate 1000 different opinionated frameworks, I just want to ship code to production. DotNet core is fine, but people hate it. Java is really awesome, but it consumes memory. I once called Oracle for JVM licensing and they mentioned a hefty sum. I cannot deal with annoying Virtual Envs with Python, yet I started to use it daily.

I like OpenSource, but I like to pay Microsoft, instead of dealing with all broken docs and dependencies, and spending nights to figure them out.

Provision EKS, hundreds of RDS, Redis, Kinesis, SQS, etc. Rinse and Repeat. But host services in Azure for simple right-click deployment, after hating Digital Ocean and Linode. And during lockdown fell in love with Oracle Cloud, because of its powerful VMs, and free Kubernetes Master nodes.

Material UI sucks. Enjoying CoreUI, but you have to pay for Pro version. DevExpExpress has a Non-Commercial Version with more components. And check out Oracle’s JET, I love it – but has the name Oracle, can’t use it in the office. And first of all, there should be some requirements for exploring this, and you have to actually try them and find out if they fits for you. They may tell the size is Large, but you will find it XXS.

Love low code platform and Hate low code platforms and frustrated with low code platforms, still a stong believer and ambassador of low code platforms. Oracle APEX, Drools, JBPM, Microsoft BPM, NodeRed, ML Pipeline Designer.

Read one book. Working on multiple tech, so my context changes every day, so read relevant books. Skim through books, that book is not good. Check out multiple books in Libby, and get more from Library. Read multiple books. Don’t have time to read. Read while traveling. Listen to podcasts. Listen to audio books. Nothing works. Still buy many books and keep them in shelf.

MySQL. Postgres. MongoDB. InfluxDB. DynamoDB. S3. Athena. I have touched all, and have written code to interact with all in the last 3 months. Looked into MySQL performance.

JMeter, Locust, K6 – I get supercharged when people talk about performance.

Everywhere

Raise above the base desires, do architecture and reduce the urge to code. But you have code to ship and deadlines to meet.

Last month, the Golang project, and this month Python Project. Morning fix NodeJs issues and after noon deploy Terraform. Next week, patch some old CloudFormation stack and migrate stacks from CloudFormation to Terraform while hating Terraform and the CDKs are not really helpful. Weekends DotNet core and Python.

Learning a lot. Mentor many. Want to get certified. Prepare for certification. Prepare for many many certifications. Azure, AWS, Redhat. Ambitious. Get Nowhere.

Amazed at how networks can handle billions of bits. Study MS Networks. Everything is theory. Books are not helpful. Go through the Linux source code. Never compiled Linux successfully. Suddenly you want to release a new Linux version. What if America sanctions India? India should be self-sufficient in Software and Hardware. VLSI? Cost of manufacturing? Resouces? Assembly language? I want to build an 8086 Emulator. Oh, I can look into Quemu. My weekend is over and back to work. I learned a lot in my master’s but left with more questions.

3D, I love it. Houdini, amazing low code application for 3D, yes for 3D. High performant. Blender, did something. Produce 3D movies, but that’s sooo costlier, not one man’s job. You will rot on your desk. Image processing? Wow, Davinci Resolve, Photoshop, GreenScreen, films, the craze is very old, I crossed it? New thing? Augmented Reality.

Getting started & training a few models. Build my dataset. Build a labeling tool, because installing CVAT sucks. VoTT is outdated. Do people know docker? Why make life miserable in 2022? I can create a new labeling tool in few days, instead of troubleshooting and fixing shit.

IoT, yea, I have built & implemented my custom IoT backend, I don’t have the money to scale it, but it works. Why can’t I use the Landsat dataset instead? IoT sensors sit near the fields, whereas Satellites are remote. You can use the same data. Landsat Data or Modis data? Wait, there are many space agencies that provide datasets. ISRO? ESA? JAXA? Suddenly I want to launch my own satellites (88 Million USD), and I want to provide remote sensing data at free of cost to farmers.

How do these satellites work? I am interested in Artemis. Ingenuity Helicopter. I want to write blogs about space tech. Wait, I want to write the blog in my own language, but I have little typing support. So I have to build my own NLP engine and I will just talk instead of typing.

Apps will be outdated in the 2050s and BPM processes everywhere, people will be just developing processes. No UI. No required fields. No schema modeling, no code to validate inputs. ML brains will know what data to collect, and what to ask, you just train them with processes. I hate required fields, it is 2022. Grow up, I cannot get out of my desk, and find out that single id you need in a pile of papers I have. I will give you that later, just ask me later.

All at Once

Kids, Parenting, Youtube Channel, Video Editing, NodeJs, Python, React, CoreUI, VueJS, MySQL, Legos, Vacuum Tubes, ResNet, Inception, Googlenet. ***nets, SageMaker, Collab, IoT, DotNet Code, AWS, EKS, Terraform, Monitoring, Log Parsing, Troubleshooting, War rooms, Stock Market, Recession, Blogging, Story Telling, Space, K6, Cypress, Selenium.

My brain is a frog, that catches all flies. It’s an unquenchable fire. Water, splashes in all directions. River, flows in one direction and takes unexpected turns.

Note:

This article is inspired by the movie “Everything Everywhere All at Once”. This movie gave meaning to chaos, gave hints for my questions, and made me comfortabe.

And below verse from Thirukkural is my major catalyst from my school days.

உள்ளுவ தெல்லாம் உயர்வுள்ளல் மற்றது
தள்ளினுந் தள்ளாமை நீர்த்து
Whatever you ponder, let your aim be higher, Even fate hinder you, do not give up to aim higher.

Thirukkural

But you, here, you’re capable of anything because you’re so bad at everything.
